Fruit Combination: What to Mix and When to Eat Them

You see an image with fruits and nuts all mixed together and think: how beautiful, how healthy. It looks spectacular in a photo. But when you actually put it on your plate, questions appear: Why do I feel bloated after eating a mix of fruits? Can they really be combined?

FRUIT COMBINATION

Fruit combination is based on a very simple idea: not all fruits are equally well tolerated when mixed, because each group of fruit has its own characteristics, and that is why they are categorized.

There are sweet fruits, acidic fruits, semi-acidic fruits, and fats, such as nuts.

The FOUR MAIN GROUPS

There are four groups, as mentioned before: sweet, acidic, semi-acidic, and fats.

Many times people ask me on social media for the complete list of fruits according to these groups, and it is actually very easy to find them: you can search for them on Google or, if you have purchased my book or one of my courses, I also share the full list there.

It is important to be aware that each fruit provides vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. Nuts are foods that contain a high amount of fat, but fat that is considered healthy and ideal for helping the body function in the best possible way.

Be careful with fats: you can consume, for example, almonds or walnuts, but they should not be mixed with each other.

WHEN TO EAT EACH GROUP

In general, within the Manniello Method, I recommend consuming two fruits per day.
– Preferably semi-acidic and acidic fruits in the morning, before midday.
– Sweet fruits can be consumed at any time of the day.

However, after 6:00 p.m. (at the latest 7:00 p.m.), I recommend not consuming more fruit. Why? Because they increase carbohydrates in the blood. One part is managed by the liver and converted into energy or stored, but another part, which is usually not used, can be transformed into fat. For this reason, eating fruit at night is not recommended within this method.

COMBINATIONS THAT ARE NOT RECOMMENDED

It is important to combine fruits correctly: different groups should not be mixed, because they can produce fermentation. Fermentation inside the body produces substances that generate toxins; these toxins then enter the bloodstream and may promote disease. That is why proper food combination, especially with fruits, is considered important.

Combinations that are often problematic:
– Sweet fruit + fat
– Fat + acidic fruit
– Sweet fruit + acidic fruit

The general recommendation is to only combine fruits within the same group.
For example, if you have an apple (sweet fruit) for breakfast, you could combine it with another type of sweet fruit to make it a suitable breakfast.

CONCLUSION

Fruit combination can be summarized in three ideas:

1/ Classify fruit by groups.

2/ Respect the timing: semi-acidic and acidic fruits in the morning; sweet fruits at any time; and avoid fruit after 6:00–7:00 p.m.

3/ Avoid mixing groups, as this may produce fermentation.
